DVD player

OK I do have a complaint on my new EX. The DVD player I find confusing more often than not. I can master AutoCad and the Flight Management System in a Boeing 737 but the DVD stumps me. To get the rear headphones running with the 4 year old in the back seat, and also get the radio running in the front seat requires a bunch of button pushing including reaching back while attempting to drive to push the headphone button on the lower rear control pod. Is there an easier way? The dealer also is confused. The manual is short on details here also. Ford should realize that those that purchased the DVD option usually have kids and they would like to have entire control (for safety reasons) from the front seat. Otherwise the 6.0 EX is great and I love it. Well the black dipstick could also use some modifications.

Re: DVD player

I think that Ford figures that a 4 year old can work a DVD/video game player better than a 40 year old.

Probably right.

Re: DVD player

I can't ever figure it out either, but my kids can. We usually run in dual mode where I can listen to the stereo up front and they listen to the DVD in the back on the headphones. There's one button you hit that changes the "mode" and he just presses it until it shows "Dual Mode" on the display in the front. Sorry I can't be more help!

Regards,
Dave

Re: DVD player

Can you listen to a DVD through the vehicle speakers or can the DVD only be heard throught the headphones? I asked the dealer when I order the truck and he did not know.

Re: DVD player

On mine you can listen to the DVD through the Vehicle speakers (sounds Awesome!), or you can listen to the radio through the speakers and the DVD through the headsets.

Regards,
Dave

Re: DVD player

On mine, I can listen to the ball game on the speakers, my one daughter and wife can listen to the CD player on headphones and the other daughter and three friends can listen to the VCP on their headphones or any comination of the above. But I get the speakers since I am the one driving.

Re: DVD player

Where do you plug in all those headphones. I guess I haven't crawled in the back to find any more than the two behind the centre console.

Re: DVD player

Two headphone jacks in the factory front center seat console. (On the 2nd seat side.)
Two headphone jacks on the factory TV screen. (Only can listen to the VCP/TV.)

Have a great day.

Re: DVD player

That happened to me one time and I simply shut the DVD down, turned the ignition switch off, and then restarted the engine and the DVD then worked fine, maybe not the right way to do it, but it worked for me.

Re: DVD player

Press the 3 and 5 raido preset buttons at the same time....these will toggle the headphone mode.

Re: DVD player

Rover, thanks I'll try the #3 and #5 buttons at the same time. reaching back there to hit the headphone button was a real dangerous operation.
