Re: dying now dead???????????????

Saw this in the general section also. You did not say what year. Sounds like the CPS to me. I carry a spare in each truck for just that reason.

Re: dying now dead???????????????

Could be fuel related. Engine getting enough to idle but not be driven. Cold weather (gelled)? Fuel filter(s) fouled? Restriction in water seperator (even though drained)?

Re: dying now dead???????????????

My dad and brother has this same problem. The sock filter that is in the tank has a lot of junk build up.

Re: dying now dead???????????????

Yep

That's What I figured, Mine just stoped dead while driving, then started right back up.
Drove it straight to the dealer and told them I thought it might be the CPS.

New guy behind the Counter said they would check it out and then let me know and if it was covered.

He looked at me like I had two heads when I sugested that the CPS is a known problem. Man I hate breaking in new service reps
I said, change what ever parts you want however I would not pick it back up until the CPS was changed.

Picked it up a few hours later, He said Just the CPS

Re: dying now dead???????????????

Take it in to the dealer. If you are still under the 5yr/100,000mile warranty it will only cost you $100. Just a suggestion. I had a miss and rough intermitant idle in my X that the dealer could not duplicate. I switched out the CPS with the spare that I carry and the miss went away. Re: dying now dead???????????????

So far so good. Problem seems to be solved. There was a chaffed wire next to the intake bracket. I beleive it was gray w/ red tracer. Applied some liqiud tape and voila It hass't happened again. (my fingers are turning blue from keeping them crossed
