E-brake question

My e-brake on my 2002 PSD excursion is very hard to engage. It will not hold the car stationary in Neutral on a hill unless I push extremely hard on the e-brake. It is almost to the point where I feel if I push any harder I will break the pedal off. I was under the car today and everything looks fine. Is there anything I can do to lube the moving parts or is this normal?

Re: E-brake question

They are not that good I have a drive that is close to 20% grade and it just holds if you push as you describe, my new 05 is no different.

The Ebrake is just a small drum unit inside the rear rotors at most 10" in dia more like 8-9 it just does not do all that much, try stopping with it once, you will need some room for sure.

If you have oil getting in there they would be down to about nothing and since they are never heated up they will not "self clean"

Just my thoughts
