Easy break in!!

Everybody with Fords should consider an alarm system... I went into the store (about 5 minutes max) Came out, got in my Excursion, noticed all the stuff in my center console was sitting in the passenger seat, and my glove box was open.. I immediately looked around to see if any of my windows were smashed, they were all intact. The only thing missing was my handgun. When I called the police, the first thing they asked was "is it a Ford?" The officer showed me how easy it was...they just jammed a screwdriver into the drivers side keyhole, wiggled it around and it unlocked the door in less than two seconds! There was a dent under the door handle where they pryed on it. Luckily they didn't make off with any stereo or video stuff. Next paycheck will pay for a high end alarm system for sure!

Re: Easy break in!!

doesnt Fords come with a stock alarm. I work for a tow company and have done many of lockouts on fords (which are by far one of the easiest trucks to open with a slim jim, it literally only takes seconds to get into one) so even with a high end alarm, they still would have broken into your truck, and still would have stolen your gun. to me buying a Tuffy center console LOCKABLE box would be a much better investment.

and it sucks to hear about your vehicle being broken into. and even far worse another gun being stolen.

No they do not. The Excursion only came from the factory with the PATS system for the keys.

Re: Easy break in!!

Update: A state trooper recovered my handgun last week, found it 200 miles away from my city.. It was not even fired(thank goodness). I ordered me a 2 way pager alarm with remote start. Also, when I had my body shop fix my door handle, I took the advice of another forum friend and had the mechanic install rear door handles on my front doors. Looks cool with no keyholes. Be safe everybody!
