EGT Gauge and TTM Malfunction

Hello Everyone,
I installed the ISSPRO EGT gauge (in the A piller pod) with the pre-turbo thermacouple..from there (gauge) I wired up to the TTM. Well to say the least, nothing works right. I tried just going to the EGT gauge (no TTM connection) and it still doesn't work correctly. I got new wire fom the local auto electrics shop thinking it may be the wire but it still doesn't work. Could it be the thermacouple. What do they mean it's adjustable?
This thing is driving me nuts. Is there a history of these ISSPRO EGT gauges being occassionally bad?
Thanks for any info...I know there is a lot of you out there with this setup of EGT/TTM.
It seemed like the TTM relay was working, just not correctly. It kept coming on and off. Which means it could be working right, but just getting bad input info from the thermacouple or gauge back.I pulled the TTM wiring off as I was afraid it would weld the relay contacts together, the way it was coming on and off.
Thanks for any info.

Re: EGT Gauge and TTM Malfunction

Hi, hope I can answer some questions for ya. first of all, a little ground work has to be established as I don't know for sure what you did.

You can't mix wire types with the thermocouple (TC) as it makes another temperature junction. If you purchase more TC wire, (use type "K" wire only), you have to make sure that you hook the same wire color together. When you hook the wires up, you have to use a screw type tightner (preferable) or a crimp connector as soldering them makes them go haywire, too. In order to test the TC, pull it out and hook it directly to the gage and them QUICKLY hold a match under the tip, burning and see if the gage moves. If nothing moves, either the TC is bad or its the gage. Once you get that working, then you can tackle the TTM and you can use the same TC wire for that. e-mail me if you have any other questions.

Sorry, it takes me so long to respond. I have difficulty typing and seeing small type. I can read better if it is in caps, so I'm not shouting, just trying to see what I type.
