Hello all, rumor has it that Excursion production will cease sometime this year. Can anyone confirm or deny? If possible, a link or other source that can confirm this to be true would be great. The organization I work for recently decided to begin incorporating this vehicle into our fleet. I want to get the information to the powers that be so they are aware of their future options, or lack there of.

Did they do that recently, like in the last 1-2 years? Rumors have been out in full force for a while yet only recently have dates slipped out. Of course not directly by Ford in the way of an official announcement, but out there none-the-less.

Yes, recently. Like in the last 1-2 weeks. Fire Department bureaucracy at its finest. I was aware of the rumor but I am trying to confirm it. If Ford has notified the dealers, I will have one of the chiefs who are driving the issue to look into it.
Yeap the end is near,we'll probably start getting more of these threads as the time nears

It's really a shame. Nothing will replace the X, it is as big as a house and drives like a station wagon and gets good mileage. I would have thought some rocket scientist at Ford would have realized what a gem this truck is and saved it. I really wonder what is driving them to kill this truck. It can't be sales because GM plans to keep building the suburban (in all of its forms). I just don't understand ford desire to give the whole market to GM. What's the cure for rampant stupidity?
We should put together an operation with some van outfitter that buys 350 bare chassys (Ford sells these) and put a nice cabin on top. In fact, I gather that such an outfitter would be able to do a substantially better job...
Just look at people rushing into this market --- I've seen stretched 650's that look excursion like. International has releast their CXT.
This is not a dead market. And as boomers retire, a portion of them are going to want travel trailers and fifth wheels.
What I'd really like to see is an X-like body where the space bethind the 3rd seat can convert for fifth wheel use.

How can you go wrong, seats 8, pulls like a 3/4 ton, gets 19.5 MPG running 85mph.

OK I gotta know how do you get good MPGs at high speed??
I still say we have to remember that the X did not come out for what like 16 months after the new SD????
"IF" Ford ever produces a 3/4 ton wagon again it may not be considered part of the "SUV" line up.
I my opinion they would have to drop it until an early 2009 release of something like a "SD Work Wagon" Naturally we would like to see it have all the SD like interiors available. They need to leave it a truck and just use as may SD parts as possible! Lets see; more of the same parts,= even bigger proffits per vehicle! Heck half of us take the X parts off only to put SD parts back on.
Seems fairly simple to me, and don't ever kid yourself, if they are making money on this thing they are figuring out a way to give it a rebirth without all the tree huggers going nuts. I was on a launch teem at a ford truck plant way back and they do not offer all variations at first, they add them over time.
Watch as the new 07 SD comes out, you will see "Limited" and "late" availability on some options and configurations. And since a wagon is a BIG varient you will not see it for a while or never.
Just my rant
