Ford should have never discontinued the Excursion in the first place.
The Excursion is a lot better than that "long-wheelbase" Expedition.
The Excursion could have been improved in conjunction with the Super Duty with the 6.4 and the 6.7, the up and coming Boss engine, and the recent interior revisions.
It could have been made as environmentally friendly as the Super Duty is being made.

William Clay Ford was CEO when the sierra club wackos, began assailing the Excursion. This was right after it came out, in 2000.

Clay publically badmouthed Ford products, at a stockholders meeting and never fought to promote the EX.

It could have been promoted w/ a 5 or 6 speed automatic trans, for much better HGY MPG.

A Cummins style waste motor oil injection system, could have been employed. Improve MPG and NEVER change engine oil. Just top up reserve tank and change oil filter every 5000 mi.

I'm running 10-20% WMO in my 86 6.9 F250 and it loves it! When I get a 1 micron external filter setup, I'll try 10% in my Ex.
