Excursion Projector Headlights

I have started seeing these out there and wondered if anyone had any comments about their quailty, installation or comparison to simply upgrading to the 2002 crystal headlights.

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

Fordasaurus,

We sell the same headlights, they are from APC. There is not a big difference between the Ford lights and the APC's on low-beam, high beam is another story, there is no comparison.

The installation requires you to modify the light housing and your adjusters as the APC adjusters will not fit the truck. The mod is fairly straight forward and the rest of the install is not real hard, although you do have to cut out behind the light mounting area to accomodate the deeper APC lights.

Biggest problem we have is keeping them on the shelf, right now they are on back order and we are not sure when they will arrive. JS.

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

Do these come with the required bulbs? Will they work with my harness upgrade?

Can you send me pricing?

jweathers@amfab.net

Thanks,
Jack

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

Hihorse,

They do come with bulbs, plug into the stock harness so should work fine with the upgraded harness and I have sent you a price. JS.

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

One more question, are the clear marker lights beside and beneath part of the assembly and included in that price?

I really like the look of these lights. You don't see anything like that around here.

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

I've never seen them priced that way. http://www.gosracing.com usually carries the clear markers/turn signals.

Hihorse

The clear corners are a seperate assembly from the head lights. JS.

Re: Excursion Projector Headlights

I had seriously considered going to the projector lights. I thought I would take a shot of upgrading the stock systems bulbs, harness and pairing the high and low beams on the stock headlights.

I have an '02 and cant tell you how much if any my clear headlights are better to begin with than the older "X's". I went with the Sylvania Superstars (stock wattage) and the upgraded harness as well as pairing the high and low beams together when on high beam. All I can say is WOW! I thought the only way I might get enough of an improvement was going with the projector style lights.

I am no stranger to the projectors and HID lights as they are on my Mercedes, Audi and VW (proj. only). The setup on my X now is amazing. I had a friend look at my trucks lights and couldn't believe the difference. Not to take business away from GOS but if you are looking for an inexpensive upgrade to your lights (~$150) you can get a huge improvement.

I spent most of my vacation in the Rocky Mountains with a lot of rain and I never really felt the need for better lights after these mods. I also never had any issues with people flashing their lights at me because mine were too bright or poorly aimed. Of course lights can be like power in that you can never have too much... I think many of you will understand what I am saying.

It might be worth trying the Superstars and the suvlights harness first and if that doesn't get you enough then upgrade to the others. The plus is you don't have to do any cutting and the harness installs pretty quickly and can often be used with other systems too! I of course reserve the right to upgrade my lights to the projector style at some point if I become more ?light hungry? than I already am. Also an FYI, the Sylvania Superstars are a very bright WHITE light and not some purplish color.
