THe X got a real workout today. We got 22" of snow at my house from Wed. and Thur. Some places in Indiana got up to 31". The X performed beautifully in all conditions. I only got myself stuck once as I tried to pull into my boss's street. The street he lives on is right off of a main road that had been plowed and his street hadn't been touched. The snow right on the edge of his street was piled and hardened and I almost got myself stuck. Luckily I got out just before a lifted Bummer H2 came by to ask if I needed help getting un stuck. I wish we had a chance to change to the MTR's before the storm hit. They are a bit better than the Revo's in the deep stuff. I have never seen snow like this before in person before. It was really fun to drive in and that is what I did most of the morning shuttling in my co-workers who thought that they were "snowed in". I guess I ruined there extra days off huh .
Anybody else been driving in this storm?

4 wheel traction eh John
We had nothing close to what ya'll had up there but in the storm's infancy it created alot of needless accidents
I would have preferred the 22" of snow
Be safe up North and enjoy the Holidays

Yep
We left AVL NC 6:30 AM Thurs
Headed up I-75 from Knoxville headed to Saginaw MI
Started to hit the ice south of Lexington
It was the worst on 75 in northern KY left lane was 4WD required in many areas but with the right lane at 0 to 20 MPH at times it was an option
Made Ohio in just over 6 hours not bad for conditions
We stopped for lunch about the 25 mile mark or so as we thought the worst was over and it was
75 in Dayton was blocked as expected so we got off and went up Dixi highway
When we crossed I-70 and saw it was all blocked as well we figured that all the ramps at the 75/70 interchange were blocked since it seemed no trafic was moving in any direction on both interstates.
So with that figured out we got back on at Highway 40 and had 75 almost to ourselves for a good while
Stopped about the 135 at highway 30 for fuel and the rest of the trip went even better, The older boy drove the rest of the way
In all it took just over 13.25 hours for a trip that takes 11 + or - normally
So not bad we have had it a lot worse when it was all ice and no one could move.
BTW new Revo's worked great but I can see others working better in some of the realy deep stuf. For the ice though I will keep my Revo's

The REVO's worked out well, don't get me wrong. A hell of a lot better than the Firebombs ever dreamed of being. Pulled a few people out here and there. Tried to help a guy in a lifted 250 that was playing around a little too much and ended up in the ditch himself.
I am glad you made it through ok Bruce. I heard there were some people stranded on 70/75 for 13+ hours. They were running out of fuel and then getting a tad bit cold. I drove across one bridge that goes over 70 and there were people climbing up the hill to go get dinner.

John
We felt like we did extreemly well
After doing this for a long time we know better than to get into a stand-still situation with no place to go.
We had the maps and atlas out from southern KY on, not knowing when the things would just stop.
Around 75/70 I am sure there were some who sat for hours, took us about 30 min to go around the area.
It is nice to know your vehicle can go where you want if you can find a clear path
I have yet to use chains on it but both sets are in the back, Lugs for rear and Z-Cables for front or rear depending. I can see using the Z-Cables on solid ice.

My 4X4 gets a good workout up north in Michigan, northern lower and UP. Check out my sig. pictures in Paridise Michigan. Always alot of snow after Thanksgiving till mid April.
This PHOTO doesn't look like much but in 6 hours from when the photo was shot the white stuff on the ground built up to a 4" slab of solid Ice
You know when you've got winter weather licked when you can conquer driving on ice safely

Bill, they were from the Presidents Day Snow Storm of Feb 2003. I think we are due for another one this winter after Victoria Texas got more snow in one day (14") than all the snow they received in the last 75 years. She is not too crazy about snow since she would rather be in the Florida Keys.
Yah I recall those days, maybe a nice snow again this year for ya'll would be fun but not for the wifey
Key West is the place to be during January for sure
Just south of us got snow alot of wet snow as a matter of fact, makes sledding slopping and packed down too hard for my style
We're back up to 65-70 degrees today
I got to drive my 2WD in a bunch of varying conditions lately and it did VERY, VERY well. I was very surprised how well it went in the snow and how very controllable the rear end is in a forced slide.
I drove in everything from very fine, cold powder to packed sleet and packed sleet that became ice to slush. It did well in everything. I have no qualms about taking it out in about anything now.
