Excursion Sound Questions

I have a few questions and I am sure this has been asked before but from what i read it all seems to be beyond what I am looking for. My questions are:

Head units - I have the factory 6 disc head unit and the factory dvd entertainment system with the wirless headsets. Any issues with switching to an aftermarket deck i should be aware of? What is everyone's overall satisfaction with the factory unit? I would like to have some sort of satelite radio. Maybe one of those little XM receivers like the roady or whatever. I mainly just listen to country and a little rock. Anyone have an opinions on those?

Speakers - this vehicle is now approaching 5 years old....and I am not on track with previous owners listening habits but after so many years as with all my other vehicles its just a good idea in my mind to change them out for something alittle bit better sounding. I am not going for competition or loud bass. I want something that all around sounds good. If I can avoid subs I would like to. Has to be some quality stuff out there to fit in the stock locations to really give an upgrade to sound quality. I am also not stereo inclined so techno-jargin does me no good. I do understand that most speakers sound better with alittle extra power ran to them in the form of an amp. Is this possible keeping the stock deck or will it require an aftermarket deck....and then if it will require one please refer back to the above!

Thanks in advance for any help on this subject.

I changed my system out but left the head unit so the DVD still works the same, now the power is 2 amps, 2 8" subs, all 6 speakers replaced. I added XM 4 years ago now. I had a shop instal it and it paid me back when they forgot a grommet on a door hole and after 3 years it shorted out the door locks...all of them. Since it was a lifetime gaurantee the $400 was covered. I have done it before but with all the DVD crap I let them do it.

MotionMan,
What stealthbox do you have? It looks like a long (wide?) one that would fit behind the third row seat and somewhat match the interior (mine is the same color). That has been my stall point of upgrading the sound system. I upgraded the speakers and have XM, but still want to upgrade the power and bass. I've been looking at the stealthbox that fits in the center console but that may be limited since the interior volume is so large. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Len
