Re: Excursion & Superduty

Yep, 2 here. My wife has been driving her 1997 F250HD diesel crew cab since late 1996. This year for our 14th wedding anniversary, I decided to surprise her with a diesel Excursion. (She was surprised...) The pickup is too nice a truck to get rid of, so we have both.

Of course she gets to drive all the cruise machines; my daily driver is a 1960 Land Rover 88.

Re: Excursion & Superduty

My wife drives the x (of course) which has all the mods. I drive the 350 which is a "stripped" down XLT with almost no mods. I did get a new set of tires thanks to Firestone's calamity.

We had four vehicles. I decided to uncomplicate life and pare down to two. Am very happy with the PSD s. Maintenance is simplified as well. K&N oil filters by the case, Stanadyne by the case, Delval 1300 by the barrel, 75w140 by the pail, .......

Does anybody know whether DIS is a publicly traded company? I want to buy shares if they are. At least I will get a rebate.

I assume the new tires were at your expense---I'm pretty mad at myself, because I just traded in my beloved F250 Crewcab PSD 4x4, on the Excursion, under pressure from the fiancee--and I didn't use the opportunity to tell the hungry selling dealer that the deal was predicated upon replacement tires---it just slipped my mind--and it was the perfect opportunity!!!! Now, to further complicate things, I'm gonna call him tomorrow, and try to rollback the deal to a purchase, rather than a tradein, and get my truck back---after all---doesn't every family need two brand new PSD's of the same color???
What tires did you wind up getting?

Re: Excursion & Superduty

ACES,

Has the deal with your dealer closed? If not, you should be able to substitute cash for the trade in allowance. If you have signed the title over to the dealer ... good luck. Your dealers response may well be an indication of how much he wants your business.

Yes I had to pay for the BFG's out of my pocket. I did both the X (before the recall) and the 350's this year. Had it not been for the recalls and impending recalls, I would be riding on stones or hitchiking. (I am not sure which is worse.)

Re: Excursion & Superduty

I'm failing in my quest to retrieve my SD-- she has convinced herself that the EX is too big to be her daily driver---I know she's wrong, 'cause if she have herself a little time w/it, she'd love it---I went through this same crap when we first got together-- she was coming out of a Nissan Stanza, and I gave her my Tahoe to drive---at first she said it was too big---a few weeks later, I couldn't pry her out of it---the bummer here is that I don't have the time, 'cause if I don't get my truck back, it'll be sold, complete w/all the add-ons I did---if she comes to grips w/the size problem later, it'll be too late----don't wanna pressure her, 'cause I wouldn't want anyone to tell me what I have to drive---
CONFUSED!!!!!

Re: Excursion & Superduty

So you're not gonna believe this one---after all this hassling, she's agreed to an F-150 Supercrew!!!! I don't get it---if she'd been willing to drive the Ex---I could've gotten my F-250 Crewcab back---but she thought the Ex was too big as a daily driver---so I looked on the Edmunds website---the F-150 Supercrew, and the Excursion are within 1" OF EACH OTHER!!!!!! So now, from time to time, I have to drive an F-150 5.4 litre GASSER, instead of my PSD Crewcab!!!!! The Excursion is looking better & better all the time!!!!!

Re: Excursion & Superduty

Aces,

Some folks just aren't dieselers. Opposite personality traits seem to attract for some reason. Good luck.

Check the signature. My son primarily drives the 250SD. I traded a 1999 Sd 250 PSD on the X.

Re: Excursion & Superduty

We're also a double diesel family.

We've had the Excursion since late last year (Nov '99) and picked up a LWB F-250 CC last month. Despite being 2000 models, they are as different as night and day. I do wish Ford would put the Excursion sound deadening into the Lariat...

Actually we're triple diesel, my Kubota "lawn mower" has 34 diesel horsepower.

My '69 CobraJet Mustang has the only gas engine in the corral, roughly the same displacement as the PSD (.030 over 428), ram-air, 4 speed, posi and slightly over 3000 pounds. It's probably pointless to add that it might actually be more fun to drive than an intercooled turbodiesel.

Cheers, ya'll!

Kevin

Re: Excursion & Superduty

I must be crazy to ask this question in the midst of all you Excursion fans, but here goes. I have a 2k X LTD PSD 4x4 with 3500 miles on it, and I don't like it. I want to buy an F-350 CC PSD 4X4 Auto----how badly clobbered do you think I'll get when I go to sell my X----what do you think it'll bring??

Re: Excursion & Superduty

Can't wait to hear the answer to this one. I went just the opposite direction, and I know what my penalty was!!!!

Good luck---you must REALLY want a 350 to go through all this!!!
