I really stepped on my Excursion the other day. From a stop, the rear tires broke loose and screeched under all that torque. Really amazing for a stock 4x4 PSD with 285s on it and weighing over 8200 with the driver...kind of like a Clydesdale winning the Kentucky Derby!

That's strange! With less weight on the back, and the same PSD, your tire should break loose much easier than our lead sleds. Are you sure you have the PSD turbodiesel? I can't imagine you have that much of a stickier traction compound on your tires. Unless you live in Death Valley where the tires get glued to the asphalt in the heat of day!

I can't break mine loose to save my life! What is the difference?! My PSD is sluggish off the line 'til the turbo kicks in & by then I'm moving pretty fast to be breaking loose (5-10 mph?). I hope there's not something wrong with mine.

Yeah, I would like to know what gives!!! Like DJH by the time the power to spin the tires arrives I am going 10-15mph and while the acceleration will stick you to the seat the off the line power is lacking. What are you guys doing to break em loose? Are you power braking before take off? I would be interested to know why some spin and some don't. Any ideas out there??????

I think part of the problem is that I live at 6200 feet elevation. However, I read somewhere in my shop manuals that the computer automatically compensates the turbo's operation for higher altitudes.

I PRETTY MUCH SMOKED THE STOCK FIRESTONES TILL THEY BECAME CHEATER-SLICKS, BUT WAS REALLY SURPRISED WHEN I COULD BREAK LOOSE MY NEW 315's. VISA SAYS TAKE IT EASY WITH THESE, SO I BETTER!
