Excursions first big trip

We went on a Mexican cruise last week and drove two families down to Los Angeles two weeks ago. From S.F to L.A., I had a little less than 1/3 tank left. Filled up again befor we drove home, and had about the same amount of gas left. We hauled down five adults, two kids,(2nd row bucket seats) and 9 large pieces of luggage. I did put on a roof rack that carried 2 pieces of luggage. Everyone was comfortable both there and back. I now have 2,000 miles on the truck. I did find a choclate finger print on the rear bench seat that got me a little miffed since I have a no food in truck rule (for now).

Re: Excursions first big trip

Long trips when the X really excels. When we had our 02, we had made several trips to Florida from Pennsylvania and each trip was a joy. One time we drove better then half the way in 4wd. Was an ever better trip since we were to only ones on I-95 (seriously), came to find out they had closed 95 due to the ice and snow storm, we didn't even know it... It really is a tremendous truck!

Re: Excursions first big trip

I got you beat....nananana...lol! I drove from 30 miles North-West of Pittsburgh to Woodbridge NJ.....470 miles! I drove mine home in a snow storm. That was about 2 months ago. Since then I have driven it to Charlotte NC and its now in Philly PA and I have dumped 4K miles on it in 2 months just driving it around. I love my ubber-beast! Its big, bad, stinky, and mean! Mine is all man, but after this weekend it becomes my wifes primary ride! We both love this thing!

[/ QUOTE ] Both my brothers and sister think I am nuts for owning a beast like this. I don't even let sit in it no less drive it, I know they will like it and always want to borrow it, NOT. I just keep saying to my self they will never understand the beauty of owning a X. They like their Suburbans and can find some one else to fix them too.LOL

Re: Excursions first big trip

Thats the truth, my parents had a Sububan for 3 years and in that time I did one water pump, an oil pump, and a tranny. Dad sold it and got a 95 F350 CC drw with the 7.3 and a 5spd, he traded that for a 03 F350 CC DRW 6.0 and loves it. I made the mistake of driving it a few times and it converted me from a Dodge man to a Powerstroke man. My cousin is a die hard GM guy and after driving my X around a few times, he is now looking for a Powerstroke superduty to trade is GMC 2500HD on. His dad just got a new F350 with the 6.0 for a work truck and likes it so much he is going to trade in his personal truck, a GMC 3500HD on a new superduty. These guys are hard core GM people also, but not anymore.

Re: Excursions first big trip

Our first roadtrip was with just a 100 miles on the odometer and a week old to where we drove from Sacramento to Phoenix and up to Dallas totalling around 1,800 miles one way with 7-8k in tow.

Was and is like riding in a Limo compared to the F250

Re: Excursions first big trip

i bought my X and picked my toy hauler in Bakersfield,CA 3 days later..made many short trips w/ trailer getting ready for big summer trip..then left from Vegas to Yellowstone to NYC to Nashville then back home(Vegas)..then off to central Oregon,Seattle,Washington/Oregon coast, redwood forest(no. cal),then Yosemite and home again...a few more trips to the beach and Disneyland and it was back to work....in 2 1/2 months i put 19,000 miles on my X pulling a 30' toy hauler without any problems...it was the best time i have ever had....
