Greg,

I did take the cat out. I think that is my problem.

Did you leave the stock DP in or replace it with the MBRP DP?

I'm trying to figure out what to do about the DP. Either get the stock one for $200 or aftermarket for $160. If I go with the aftermaket dp with the cat install and still have an issue. I would be going back to all stock exhaust including the dp and that would be $$$$.

The DP and cat are stock, from the cat back is 4" stainless MBRP, including the muffler.

I have not ridden in an X without the cat so I cannot compare, but my buddies Duramax Crew cab (w/ some aftermarket turbo-back..no cat) is horrible in the back seat, you can't understand the conversation in the front seat unless you lean forward, I hate riding in back. Also, outside the truck, mine sounds better according to mutual observers.

Not that this should come as a suprise (or maybe it should), my X is unmistakably more powerful and gets better mileage too.

Thanks Greg for the reply.

From all that I have read and hearing statements like yours. I'm going to put the stock DP back on. Then run 4" Cat back from there.

Any one have a stock DP or want a hardly used MagnaFlow DP?

ldmc,
Are you going to run a straight pipe then from the cat back and go with no muffler? I am anxious for a change too but I also haul the family around on the weekends and don't want it loud. From what I gather you are going to run stock DP to cat and straight pipe out w/no muffler. Like to know how it turns out for you.

Sabre6,

I'm going to also put the 4" muffler back on and see what I get. I will post what happens. I'm ordering the DP on Monday since I can't find a used one.

Idmc, How did it turn out for you? I am torn between stacks now versus going with the Walker Muffler and leaving the system stock. Spoke to a guy with an 07 and stacks. Sounded really good and not too loud in the cabin. I just dread drilling a hole in the bed.

Are stacks legal in California? I am getting reassigned out there this summer.

Sabre6,

I ended up putting the stock DP and CAT back on. What a difference.

I can hear the motor again with no drone. I'm still 4" from the CAT back using the Magna Flow muffler.

Waiting until spring to tow, but for now i'm happy.
