exhaust systems

What's the best exhaust system in terms of durability, power increase, and overall value, to put on my 2000 PSD Excursion?

Thanks,

Dave

Re: exhaust systems

I would get a Magnaflow 4" system or a MBRP 4" system. You can order either one from many sponsors on this site. I did not want to install my 4" system myself and I have a local muffler shop that has done my work for years. They happen to stock Magnaflow so that's what I went with. It was a nice kit that bolted right up and looks and sounds great. It was pretty quiet with the muffler on so I had mine removed and I love the straight pipe.

Re: exhaust systems

I got the MBRP and have had no problems with EGT, or noise. It seem to be built like a brick house!

Re: exhaust systems

I have a 4" exhaust-turbo back, 5" Magnaflow SS tip, Dynomax Race Magnum sound suppressor. It sounds great and with my chip, it runs like a scalded dog.

Speaking of ScaldedDogs, I put an MBRP 4" system on our Excursion, and it's been great!

Re: exhaust systems

I have a Magnaflow. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with MBRP. Not because of quality and not because of price. The stainless steel tip on the Magnaflow is a bit cheesy, IMHO. If I had seen it prior to purchase, I probably wouldn't have bought it. The tip isn't rolled like the MBRP. The 4" pipe extends through the 5" tip. In effect, you see a double edge on the outside.

Re: exhaust systems

I put a 4" MBRP on my '02 and it caused a lot of resonation from the exhaust. So much so that I installed a couple layers of sound dampening material from secondskinaudio.com.

Now I have the performance and quiet comfort to go with it. :-)

You won't regret upgrading to the 4" exhaust. I think it really freed up the acceleration of my Ex. Now I am pushed back into my seat well by 70mph. Before the exhaust it seemed to "bind" somewhat above 50mph.

Enjoy,
JHF

Re: exhaust systems

Thanks for all of your help. It seems like the MBRP is the way to go. Where can I get a good deal on one?

Thanks,

Dave

Re: exhaust systems

I have a Bully Dog on my F250. It is the aluminized and is starting to rust slightly. It is about 4 years old. Who makes a quiet one? I would like to put one on the EX but do not want the resonance under the floor. I sit possible to have the performance and still be quiet?

Re: exhaust systems

For the price you cant beat it
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/powerpipe.htm

I did the 5" on mine and it worked out great with just a little modding of a hanger.

Re: exhaust systems

I never worried much about how the Magnaflow tip looked. At the speed I go by, they don't even notice it.
