Explores Pro Comp spring/lift kits

Eminent Brothers
I continue to flip out over my new/used "X" wandering all over the road. I went to my local 4x4 center to ask about Rancho shocks and steering stabilizer and the guy automatically asked me if I was running a SuperDuty PU. I told him I was running an X and he told me they sell a lot of Explorer Pro Comp suspension kits for leveling out SuperDuty trucks including the X. It comes with new front springs, shocks and some other stuff that serve to lift the front end and take the mushyness out of the front end. About $650 for parts and $350 for labor. Considering my local Ford dealer is a butt and they want way more for V code springs then what I've seen on this forum, I was thinking of whipping out the plastic and just paying the 4x4 center for the ExplorerProComp kit. Anyone know anything about this modification??

Re: Explores Pro Comp spring/lift kits

I have the V codes and love them. Look for a used set as they are cheap. I paid $75 for mine brand new take offs. Check with any local 4wd shop and see if they have take offs from lifts.

Re: Explores Pro Comp spring/lift kits

I bought an Explorer Pro Comp kit for a YJ jeep about 4 years ago, and would not recommend the brand. The shocks were no good, and overall it was pretty much a "get what you pay for" level of quality. If you have time, go over to a jeep bulletinboard like the one at quadratec.com, and search under pro comp. I think you would find a consensus similar to my opinion. However, the Ford stuff may be completely different...........

I put a set of bilstein shocks on my X a few months ago and can say that alone made a huge, positive difference.

Re: Explores Pro Comp spring/lift kits

no pro-comp. Get the edge mini spring packs. Search and you will see.
