Exterior Color

Lets have a sound off on Excursion colors owned. I have a white 2001 PSD on order, but saw an Estate Green one on the lot the other day and have begun rethinking. So what colors do we own and what do you like about it. Also, anyone know what the most popular Limited color is?

Re: Exterior Color

Welcome!

I picked Steel Blue - which is really more of a mid-gray, because there are just too many white vehicles here. And, the color is dark enough to show the lines of the vehicle well but not so dark as to show every speck of dirt. So - I picked something right in the middle. Some think it looks plain, some think it looks classy.

Re: Exterior Color

I chose "Chestnut" when it was available for the XLT. Very nice color, I saw it on a Taurus in the showroom and wanted it on my truck. I had too many white and black trucks over the years. I needed a color change. Though a bit hard to keep clean, I still love the color.

Re: Exterior Color

I bought a black 2000 X 12/7/99, put 12,100 miles on it and traded for 2001 black X 10/22/00.

Re: Exterior Color

I went with the white mainly because I find it seems to keep pretty clean and is quite noticable (unless I'm in a blizzard!!!). If I could of had a choice I really like the color that UTAH has and you don't see very many around. Just my observation seems like lots of white/gold and Wedgewood blue.

Re: Exterior Color

Toreador Red w/ Parchment Ltd trim was my choice. I had a black Eddie Bauer Expedition for three years so I wanted a change. The Toreador Red cleans up beautifully and is really a head-turner. Even when it gets a little dirty, it still shines!

Re: Exterior Color

I chose Dark Green Satin with Medium Parchment. Actually, didn't have a choice as it was the last PSD LTD 4X4 in Tulsa. It really goes well with the Arizona Beige cladding and interior color. It's a little difficult to keep clean, but have really grown to like it. It's also not quite as common as some of the other colors around which keeps the vehicle a little more individualistic.

Re: Exterior Color

Deep Wedgewood Blue here - thought all the other colors (besides white and black) looked too "minivanny." Our '97F250HD CC is a very nice metallic blue, I wish we could have gotten the Excursion in that color! This color is just a tad more "eggplanty" than I'd like - there are purple highlights under certain conditions. Denim interior, XLT (had to have the bench seat, couldn't stand the look of the plastic cladding.)

Re: Exterior Color

Utah,
The firechicken reference is directed towards the tires!!! And actually I have to say that so far so good, and everyone I have talked to about the Steeltex ATs have nothing but good things to say about them.

Re: Exterior Color

I have the Estate Green and love it. EVEN my wife loves it and she says I usually pick S...y colors. The dark mud from our roads don't even show on it..much as you would think.

Re: Exterior Color

I also have a Toreador Red with Medium Parchment interior. Actually I think other colors than red look better, but I am in keeping with my other cars that are red.
...
Here's the outstanding feature for the Parchment (tan) interior. The light brown interior is the perfect accent to the standard dark dash trim. They really compliment each other.
...
If you haven't seen an ALL BLACK Xcursion, then you haven't seen the ultimate. It is the most intimidating vehicle I have ever seen. Its just awesome. However, its not a reasonable option for me, here in Houston.

Re: Exterior Color

Well it is time for me to jump in. I bought a used 99 XLT, 5.4L Expedition in December 1999. By the time summer was here, I realized this vehicle was not the vehicle I need for family camping trips. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the Expedition very much, but the room behind the 3rd seat was a joke and I could not take out the seat for my use. I had owned a 86 F250 XLT Diesel and loved it. The only reason I sold the truck was I got a company truck (GMC-but it is free ) and my F250 was only being used about 500 miles a year. I sold the truck to a friend and it is still running strong. I started to follow all of Ford programs on the Excursion and in October when the interest rate went to .9% for 5 years and I got the price to $500.00 below invoice, I had to make the deal. I was leaning toward the gas V-10 with the 4.3 limited slip mainly because of the wife, noise, the cost of diesel fuel and the pure take off power. But a good friend of mine got interested in the Excursion also. Bottom line-we both bought an Excursion, the only difference was the color. We both convinced my wife the diesel was the way to go and I am glad we did. I have been reading this site for over 2 months now and I think this site is great. I was involved with the Expedition site on F150-Online and this site is even better. I am looking forward to owning this Excursion for a long time and meeting new friends on this site.

Re: Exterior Color

Estate Green Ltd was my wife's favorite color. Truck looks great when clean, but light dust coats it easily. White is my favorite color and a friend has a white LTD but it sure emphasizes the size of the truck where the green minimizes it.
They all look good. you takes your pick!
