Extremely Dirty Engine 2001x HELP?

Hey guys...

My 2001 excursion continues to suffer from an EXTREMELY dirty grimy engine.

Pretty much everything ends up coated in a black... oilish stuck on grime

what is causing this?

She runs like a beast.... no probs to report... but I hate this crap

is it normal?

thanks all

Sounds like a leak in either, or both, the intercooler boots and the up-pipe doughnuts.

I fixed both of these and the fuzzy, oily haze has been gone for some time.

They are behind the turbo. Look at your firewall, just behind the turbo. If it is black and the exhaust up-pipes are black, then you have leaking doughnuts.

I replaced them as they were incredibly oily and wouldn't grip the tubes anymore, even after washing.

Did you use stock or aftermarket boots? If you used aftermarket what would you recommend and where did you get them?

I got aftermarket. I do not remember where but check the usual suspects: Dieselsite, ITPdiesel, Long Island Diesel and see if they have them.
