Factory remote start?

The dealer states he can't get more than 15 min's of run time out of the setting, does anyone have access to the programs that can help me get more run time? I told him 15 min's just don't cut it on real cold days even plugged in,and that I'm trying too heat more oil the a deep frier in a chinese restaurant! I should have been told of the short cycles when I was buying the truck, not cool. The next step is requesting a removal and refund,so beware if you live in a cold climate. Joe M. Re: Factory remote start?

Just looked at the programming instructions for my UltraStart 2250 Remote start and alarm it has 15, 30 and 45 minute presets and during any run period hit the * button to reset the time. I do not know what one you have but I assume since you say it is from Ford it must be a Code Alarm (they make them for Ford) I would look on the following site for some info however they seem to want to charge for it.
http://www.powercallsirens.com/fordstarteroptions.shtml

I looked real hard at the code alarm but could not pass up the one I found new on Ebay for $95 with alarm and extended remote start. I must say though that I have not yet finished putting it in hope to finish this weekend. The remote start was the easy part, getting to the wires for the Alarm was a bit of work, but I know it is done right. I did however buy the "Ford factory" PATS bypass from my dealer, it was only a few bucks more than some and less than many and I figured had the best chance of working without a lot of fooling around.

The one I have is not an "expensive unit" so I would assume your dealer might not know all the features. My dealer admitted they had only done one and I got the impression they did not want to do any more.

I am fortunate to live in an area were very few need an alarm. Except when I travel.

Why when almost every other vehicle has an alarm option the X does not?

Even my stripped Conversion prepped 92 E-150 Chassis had an alarm option, and it worked fine.
Hope this helps some

Bruce

Re: Factory remote start?

Bruce the unit has a 10 or 15 min. option, and was installed by an outside alarm vender. I looked at the unit and it has the ford logo, and the booklet mentions diesel optins but I think ford forgot about the four gallons of oil in the diesel option!!!!! Re: Factory remote start?

Ok if it had the Ford logo it is a Code Alarm as far as I know
Can you reset the time to 0 while it is running?
On the coldest mornings here, 14 degrees, pluging mine in for 2 hours gets the oil up over 60 and it starts like spring time then in five minutes I have heat. If it is plugged in I do not see the need for more than 15 min unless it is way below 0, not often in NY?
I am real close on those oil temps with the digital SPA gauges.
right after start up when using the heater it drops about 10 degrees then comes back up as things "circulate"

Would have been nice to have some choices though.
