Finally Home

After a week (7 days) in the shop I fianlly drove my X home. Man, if this is not a good case for NEVER owning a car I don't know what is. I have been driving a loaner and my back is killing me. Barber Ford in Holland, MI did me right. The Tech always let me look and answered all my questions. He is a cool guy. The crack was very small and was on the shoulder of the Head. It went down about 1/2 an inch and really did not affect any other part of the engine. It would have grown over time with the heating and cooling but was otherwise just a bad casting and is the first they have seen...just my luck. Anyway I am going North this weekend, 7 hours of pure enjoyment in the X and time to re-bond with her.

Re: Finally Home

I bet your glad to have your X back. Ours has been in the body shop for 6 weeks now . Should get it back next week though .

Just curious where you go when you head "north". We live in Traverse City, but also spend time in the U.P.

Re: Finally Home

I lived in TC for 3 years....really Lake Ann but not many people know where that is. I go as far North and the State allows. We have a place on Lake Superior in Grand Marais, MI. It is a haul but the only deep water launch for many miles and a sandy beach/bay. We love it there and go nearly every other weekend ( I drove a Dodge Ram 200,000 miles in 4 years). We use it more for snowmobiling than summer as I live 100 yards from Lake Michigan. I have not been to TC for a few years but it is a great place to live. I spent last night in the Garage just starring at my Truck. Going from a car to this was like going to a semi....nothing better than being taller than everyone else

Re: Finally Home

I know where Lake Ann is...I've lived in TC for 30+ years. We have friends who grew up in Grand Marais and my brother has some property there. Closest I've been to there lately is Tahquamenon Falls. You must really like the area to drive that far that often. At least you have the right vehicle for it .
