finding a new 2001 x psd

I was doing my research to order a 2002 X PSD with 2nd row captain's chairs when I found they're no longer offering the chestnut color. If I'd decide to go with a 2001 model to get the color and customize with captain's chairs as an after-market, how would I locate any still-available 2001 PSDs? Is there a way to do this without getting into the whole "dealer swap" thing?

Re: finding a new 2001 x psd

Hello Craig,
This is not going to be easy in my opinion. Most dealers are either out of, runnning low on, their 01 stock, due to the extensive special financing programs that F*rd has been running since the 9/11 disaster.
You could try to search the auto classifies on sites like Yahoo or Excite. I remember seeing a few 01s on those sites, however none of them were what I wanted, plus none of them were close to me, so I had to order a 2002 PSD Limited Ult. 4x4 in Toreador Red.
You could go to www.ford.com and try to search dealer inventories in your area for any left over 2001s. You may also want to look for a pre-owned 2001.
You could also ask the dealer if they would do a special order paint. Sometimes, depending on the size of the dealer and the volume they do, things like this can be arranged, but you'll pay extra for and won't be able to back out of the order if something happens and prevents you from taking delivery.

Hey Craig,
Well I just took a look at www.ford.com and you can't search for 01 Excursions, just new 02s. Take a look at www.yahoo.com. I found some 01s earlier today, but I don't remember seeing any in Chestnut.

Good luck,
RTM038

Re: finding a new 2001 x psd

Craig, I just might be able to set you up. You see, I bought a 2001 Chestnut 4x4 Limited Ex with the PSD, but my wife...she's not so crazy about it. I love the truck, but she's really the one who drives it the most. I work far from home and am forced to drive more economical transportation. Anyway, to make a long story short, this truck is in absolutely perfect condition and I have added a few things to make it even nicer. See my signature. The wife is looking for something that will be easier on her back when taking the baby seat in and out....not to mention easier to park at the ole grocery store. I hate to even murmur the words, but I think she wants a mini-van. Uggh!
Let me know if you're interested (via e-mail or private message here). Oh, by the way, the truck has about 15K on it...all highway miles as I had to drive it back and forth to work for the first 4 months after buying it. This due to the fact that I was letting my dad use my other car for a while.<-- long story. Anyway, I can assure you that the truck is perfect in every way. I'm not too far from you either....I'm in Valparaiso, IN

try www.forddirect.com this allows you to search participating dealers inventory by zip code. That is how I located my X with the colors and options that I wanted. You can search for 2002 and 2001 models.

PSDBill,
That's what I was trying to find for Craig before, but had no luck. Only could find the "Build & Price" section on www.ford.com. Nice job!
