FIRST RIDE IN MY NEW X

Just got back from Afghanistan and drove my new X for the first time -WOW! Quite a bit quicker than my old 93 7.3 CC and lots more comfortable. Wife has been driving it and in the first 4000 miles it got 15 MPG. I expect that it will improve? Lift, bigger tires, and computer planned for the future.

Semper Fi!

Welcome back there BTN

Yeah the Excursions are abit more skippy than the older Ford Diesels unless then they are fed propane chasers

Well you got the winter ahead of you to contemplate your evil modification thoughts for the Excursion

Welcome home!
The mileage will improve a little...right up until you reprogram it, lift it and put those fat tires on it...
But then again there is more to life than mileage...isn't there?

Re: FIRST RIDE IN MY NEW X

Welcome home...and THANKS for defending this great country and risking your life to insure Americans enjoy the safety that we do!!! My family and I appreciate you and all of our servicemen and wish you a great Thanksgiving.

15 mpg (2002 7.3 though) is about what I got when varying between highway and stop and go. I now have 295/75r/16's and my economy has dropped to about 13.5 mpg. I think this is still good considering the size of the vehicle and the power it makes.

Thanks again...Blake

Re: FIRST RIDE IN MY NEW X

Good to be home! I don't expect to install lift/tires until the summer and even so, it won't be too high. Looking at the DR 3" hanger kit. My wife keeps reminding me that I have other trucks to play with and modify and to leave hers alone. Just bought a 7.3 IDI and Allison AT545 trans to install in my '63 M43 Ambulance that's been sitting out behind my folks house waiting for some attention. Anyone interested in a Dodge flathead 6?
