Re: fixin your vibrations

drivelineman, I have acouple of questions.
1 how can I tell the actual height of the lift my receipt says four inch, but measuring from the bump stops it raised it 5.5 inches.
2 My truck when stock had the vibration in the drive line and it only got worse with the lift and tires can one of your drive shafts really help? I was told by two different tire shop's that Ford puts that vibration in the drive line to aviod people claiming that they did not notice that they wre driving 80 mph is this true? thank you mike

Re: fixin your vibrations

not just here to sell - i am an a wheeler too- if by chance someone needs a shaft then good- but i'll add to the conversation too- i have had 5 people tell me to come to this board- i am at colorado k5- off-road.com - pirate- rockcrawler - and sierra rockcrawlers- so hope i can help here- okay on to the subject - look at your driveline cold air- see if you can see any yellow or white marks on the shaft at either end and the diff flange and t case flange - then see if there lined up- give me a call- i'll explain it- it would take up a page and i might later- 530-872-5725 jess

Re: fixin your vibrations

Like Recycled Racing, I'm glad to get an expert opinion on driveline issues after what I've been through. I've been getting all kinds of opinions from people on lift kit driveline issues. Even when I call the local 4 Wheel part stores or Fabtech's shop directly, I get different opinions on driveline issues and it's been very frustrating.

There's many people here besides myself who have installed a lift kit on their Excursion/SuperDuty only to find some kind of driveline problem when they were originally told by their vendor or lift kit manufacturer that there should be no driveline issues. Fabtech, Agressive Suspension, 4 Wheel Parts Wholesale and other shops originally told me there would be NO driveline issues if I went with a 4 - 6 inch lift. I figured everything should be fine after hearing enough opinions from these shops which is why I went ahead with my purchase. Now that I'm hearing more about driveline issues from people with 4 - 6 inch lift kits installed, I called these same stores back several times over and heard different stories depending upon who I talked to. Very frustrating

The bottom line is there will be some driveline issues more often than not with these kits installed and Jesse's appearance here has already helped me. He's already answered some important questions for me and given me some good information to work with wheather I go with his solution or not. I think the experience and opinions he has for any of us considering a lift kit are valuable.

Re: fixin your vibrations

Ref Utah's comment, I think it's good that a couple of shop owners log on and provide comment. There are a lot of varying opinions on these types of sites. Some good, some not so good. Personally, I would rather get the right information the first time. Who better to give it than someone who deals with that issue everyday! I would rather deal with someone on the opposite side of the US that KNOWS what he is talking about, than deal with a local guy who has the ability, but not the expertise. If a shop owner extends his knowledge to us because he is an enthusiast, and he wants to help "set the story straight" others should not slam his comments just because he is in the business.

Just my $.02
