Folding 2nd Row Seat Problem

Anyone else have this problem with their Ltd X? My passenger side 2nd row folding seat back will not return to the upright position using the release lever. The seat back appears to be stuck and/or the release cables do not pull the release latches far enough to let go. Ford dealer has a part on national backorder with no expected shipping date. Seat back will finally release after much yanking/pulling, but is quite inconvenient.

Re: Folding 2nd Row Seat Problem

Have the same problem. I pushed down on the seat while pulling up on the lever and the seat finally returned to upright position.

Re: Folding 2nd Row Seat Problem

I had a simular problem with my second seat driver side. At first thought the cable was to long, causing the latches not to fully disengage but after looking closer found out it was nut behind the wheel. I had put the after market Ford rubber mats on top of the stock carpet mats causing the bottem seat to not tilt foreward enough. This makes the back rest to bind on the bottom of the seat. Try pushing foreward on the seat bottom while pulling on latch lever and lifting. Hope this helps. cliffsurfs _____________________________________________01 EX 4x4 wht. Re: Folding 2nd Row Seat Problem

You may have something there! After making sure the seat bottom is fully forward and pushing the seat back fully flat, the release mechanism works much easier. There is still some grabbing, but at least it releases and returns to upright. Thanks for the tip!
