Ford 4" blocks?

I ordered Ford 4" blocks they came from a lift shop so there factory take offs. I was sure to ask for the ones with a little taper to them.
When I got them there is no taper at all. I called and was told there is a slight taper but if there is its nothing you can measure. They say they will work.
The ones on my Excursion now measure 2 1/2" on the back side and 2 1/8" on the front side. The 4" blocks I got measure 3 5/8" front and back.
I also have 5" blocks I decided not to use they measure 4 1/2" front and 5" on the rear.
Will they work with no taper? It looks like all SD trucks with one piece driveshaft and Excursions need the taper or you get drive line vibrations.
I was all set to put them on today but if I am going to have problems with them I will just order the right ones from Ford. Thanks, Ken

Re: Ford 4" blocks?

You will need the tapered blocks off a F350 or you will have drive line vibrations. You could install some caster wedges from a truck alignment shop that will help but it is a lot easier to get the correct blocks to start with.

Re: Ford 4" blocks?

I was duped the same way. These are for an F350 Crew Cab long box which does not have the taper. I went with Chevy 4" and they fit fine and have a taper. I had to hog out the center pin hole with a drill but that was it. These don't have the wings which is fine since you will be a long way from the bump stop. This worked great for me as I have air bags and the wing would have been in the way. I have V codes and a 1.5" add-a-leaf in the front and the 4" block in the back. I am within the service limit for the bags by 1" and they work fine hauling 10,000lbs with 500+ tounge weight. I would get the chevy blocks and be done with it.
