Ford Extended Warranty

I want to buy teh Ford Extended Warranty which is $2300 for 7 years and 100k miles, and $100 deductable. It says that it covers 113 components and lists them. The problem is that I cannot figure out what it does not cover. I am wondering if there are major potential problesms that are not covered. I had this problems with Ford before.Has anyone has any experience with the Extended warranty on the EX and knowledge of what is excluded from teh full warranty?

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

If you do a search in the 7.3 forums (archived now) I think there's a really good thread on extended warranties. I learned quite a bit from it. I think the key is determining if any changes you intended to do are in violation of the warranty. The best one's sounded like a health insurance plan . .you basically get it fixed and the dealership bills the warranty company. Some people said that their dealerships were unwilling to do the paperwork however and they had to do it themselves.

Regards,
Dave

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

Thanks, I am keeping the EX stock because I know that they are just looking for any excuse to void the warranty. And I am going to get it from Ford, not a third party because I do not want to deal with disputes between them. Incidentally, I went to UofI in Urbana and would go to Bloomington to party at Illinois State. Will be passing through again on teh way to the Harley 100th anniversary party.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I have had nothing but good luck with the Ford Premium ESP that I have had on all my Fords over the years. Where did you get that price? I found it hard to beat Bobby at Sunrise Ford in CA. I'm getting ready to order it for my 01 7.3 X 4x4.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

The one time that I had some work done under the extended warranty (rear pinion gasket), I was told by the service manager that if the subject of the work is not specifically mention in the warranty, then it is not covered.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

From a service advisors point of view FORD Premium ESP is very easy to work with and I highly recommend it. You need to do it prior to you running out of the 3-36 warranty. Price increases and coverage diminishes.

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I recently got the 5 year, 75k miles ESP that covers over like 500 parts if I remember, it is the highest coverage you could get. $50 deductible and I paid $1941 for mine. Going to 100k miles is where the price jumps up. Mileage is what makes a big price difference, not time. JMHO

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

I cannot figure out what it does not cover to determine if they are the parts likely to go bad. I know they cover 500 parts but there are 5,000 individual parts in this. I wish they had a warranty like the new car warranty which says "bumber to bumber except for ........." I am nervous when they say it is the most complet warranty but do not use simple english to say it covers everything "except....".

Re: Ford Extended Warranty

At approximately 30,000 I decided on a third party warranty. I bought a 150,000 exclusionary policy for $1,800. It covers EVERYTHING except for about 20 items listed. If its not on the exclusion list then its covered.

No deductible. Even covers tire failure. Gives me money for motel and rental if I'm stuck on the road. Covers a tow to a shop.

I've used it at the Dealer I bought the Ex at with no problem at all. Picked up the truck after repairs and they handed me the keys. Third party warranty paid everything.

150,000 miles, zero deductible. No hassle.

I put 62,000 on the truck in the first 11 months with no majoe complaints except for out of balance driveshaft.

I'd be happy to share the info if you e-mail me.

Actually, I should have checked my policy, my warranty does cover everything except like 20 parts and of course wear and tear items.
