Ford OEM Chrome Tubular Steps

Guys -

After a couple of bruised shins I am sick of the running boards on my X . Every time it rains and I do not step down directly on the running board I slip off and hit my shin. Never had that problem on my F250 with the tubular steps. So I want to see if anyone has put them on their X and where they got them. I really like the Ford ones with the oval tube. But I called my dealership and they want $379. Does anyone have any other quality brands, like Westin or something? If so how much and where. Also, I am assuming the steps made for a crew cab 250 will fit the X. Is this correct? Thanks.

Mike

I have the tube ones on my F350. They are slippery too.

Yes the bars are slippery and when you slip and your leg goes between the bar and the body you will have to amputate your leg to get it out. The CC is longer, you would want a regular cab long box or a extended cab short box.

I had the same problem on my '98 Expedition. A little non-skid tape on the running boards did the trick. I cut them to fit the ridges on the running boards. It was cheap too!

Re: Ford OEM Chrome Tubular Steps

Well, I didn't have any problems with the tubular steps and I really like the way they look versus the running boards. Any tips on where to get them would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Ford OEM Chrome Tubular Steps

I've got black powder coat tubes on my Excursion, and also had them on my Expedition. I never had a problem with them and they look great.
