Ford Service/Warranty Issue with Roof Racks

I have my X in the service shop for several issues. One being that the roof rack had begun to wear the paint off on my roof.

Ford has a service # (Don't remember the name) I believe 15695 on this issue.
They don't have a resolution at this time (they are working on a modified roof rack aprantly) they will be covering the repair/refinish of the roof when the new roof rack is done.

So...I didn't get it fixed, but it's documented with ford now, so when the resolution is released, it'll get covered under warranty no matter what the miles.

So....if you haven't already...remove your roof rack. Check for the scratches...and if you got em, get it in so you're records indicate that you brought it in so you're covered under the warranty.

Just an FYI.

Fortunate for me..our salt..er..winter season is done so I don't have to worry as much about corosion starting where the scratching did occur.

Re: Ford Service/Warranty Issue with Roof Racks

Jason, thanks for the advise. I took mine off a long time ago just to make it easier to wash. An amusing note, by the time I told my brother about this, he was already looking for rattles above the headliner of his ex. Seems that some acorns had collected between the rack bars and were rolling around while he drove.
