which front end is in 4WD X

I am looking to buy a 4WD X and was wondering what front end they have in them? Dana 50 or 60? Is it a solid axle or independent like say a 1996 F-250 (I think it's called a TTB whatever that stands for?) Are there any things I should stay away from??
