Front End Binding during parking lot turns

I’m getting a binding feel and noise when I crank turns at low speed in parking lots, for example. Feels like my old 4X4 when the hubs were locked but I’m in 2X mode and the hubs are in Auto???

Anyone else noticing this?? I think I should run it by the dealer to see what they’ll say. Any comments??

Re: Front End Binding during parking lot turns

Thats just a fact of life with the hydroboost sharing both the brake boost and steering boost. I wonder if an overdrive pully on the PS pump would help this? Hmmm.

Re: Front End Binding during parking lot turns

So its not abnormal - it's OK??? Just don't want to worry - feels like something ain’t right??? If it’s the “hydroboost” and it’s “part of the system” then can I assume it’s not causing any damage like it might if it was a 4X4 with locking hubs???

It’s kind of a jerk and release every ½ or full wheel rotation. It doesn’t feel at all like resistance that the steering stabilizer would give??? Still puzzled.

Thanks,

Re: Front End Binding during parking lot turns

I noticed some increased resistance after installing the Pro-Comp stabilizer. This improved with time. I still experience this rarely during low speed manuvers. Make sure that there is no contact with the steering linkage. Does the stabilizer have the boot on it? I removed the boot because was rubbing on the center link. Overall the combination of the stabilizer upgrade and Edelbrock shocks have improved the feel of driving the Excursion.
