Front End Steering components question
I have been experiencing the dreaded WANDER on my 2002X. I adjusted my steering box yesterday. BIG difference. While I was in the area, I also checked the sway bar bushings (ordered from FORD yesterday) and the drag link arm. I noticed that I can ROCK the drag link arm up and down and I can hear metal to metal contact. Now I grease my fittings EVERYTIME I change the oil. The bushings at the ends of these connections feel hard (100k on the X by the way.) I am considering replacing the drag link arms. (I "assume" these would come with the bushings as well.) I am trying to find a COMPLETE bushing kit for the front end of the Excursion. Does anyone have a good part number for something like this? I "think" I want to replace ALL the bushings in the front end. (drag link bushings, tie rod bushings, etc..) Is this doable? Is it something best left to a "qualified suspension specialist"? Seems like it would not be that hard, but I have never done it either so I could be missing something.
Any suggestions or gotchas appreciated.
Thanks,
greg
