I have had over 47 Ford trucks and sooner or later the pinion seal will start to leak. its not too hard for the dealer to replace but it does take a little knowledge of how to set the backlash on the rear end, my dealer did a cuople of trucks and I think it only took less then 1.5 hours

Had mine replaced a while back at the stealer...was under $200 out the door...I think around $180.00. You have the labor, the seal, some new nuts or a new nut I think and rear diff. fluid to top it back off.

Had mine replaced last week. I was kind of miffed with the dealer because I found the leak a couple of weeks after I had taken it in for it's 30K mile service. Not only did they not find the leak, they forgot to balance and rotate the tires. They probably forgot to do a whole bunch of other things too. At any rate, I took it in and complained. They say that they gave me a free oil change, along with balanced/rotated tires, and fixed the leak...all for free. Of course, I no longer trust that they did anything unless I can check it myself. I already went back and retorqued my lugs.
