Well I haven't had any luck IDing the mystery springs,... so I had nothing to lose .. I modified them tonight. I cut the rusty center bolt out and added the third leaf from the bottom in the G code rear excusrion pack to my mystery front springs.. I already had them etc and figured it would be neat to try. If they don't work I can also by the tried and true V Codes etc. here are some pictures:

The 1/8" aluminum spacers were cut from some old road sign.. I hopeto pull the front *' lift out tommorrow afternoon and try these springs etc..
the last picture is the stock Excursion front springs and the modifed mystery springs. I dropped the rearend from the 8" bds springs to modifed B codes etc and used the stock 2 /1/2" excursion rear blocks.. if the front is too high I have a set of F250 3 1/2" rear blocks to try..
What do you guys think?
Thanks
deo

A few things I noticed when I experimented with my B codes:
Adding a shorter leaf spring tends to firm up the spring after it has deflected some. It sounds to me like you want it firm right from the 'neutral' point. To to this you can either get thicker leafs, or get an additional spring that supports the originals the entire length. You have so many leafs in the pics, I can't tell what is what. I would suggest trying, if you have the spare leafs, to add a full length spring (maybe another 2nd leaf) to the pack and see if that works for you.
If you look carefully at the arch/curve of each leaf, you will notice from the top leaf to the bottom the arch and thickness increases . So, if you want a little more lift, put in another 2nd leaf. If you want just more firmness (throughout the entire deflection), cut the extra main leaf (just the very ends) and stick it in between the 1st and 2nd (making sure the 2nd spring does not extend past it, easier said then done perhaps).
I must have pulled my rear spring 5 or 6 times before I got the right height and flex.
Good Luck, let us know what works for you.

My X codes have an extra leaf so i'm sure they are a little stiffer than stock, but if I push on the front I get maybe a 1/4" of movement. If you bounce on the tow hooks you can get more, but it's pretty solid.

Did you do your push test with the bumper on, or as it is in the pics? I know mine seemed to have more bounce with the bumper and front hitch off. they don't seem that heavy but do make a difference.

I'm also not seeing a shock in that picture. You may want to install the shock and test. That can make a huge difference.

Just picked up a set of front springs to replace the tired ones on my 99. Guy said they were off a 2000 f250 diesel extended cab lariat. They are stamped F81AADD
and PRN0588

Thanks for the replies That seems to solve the mystery.. Did you happen to look at the door sticker to get the letter code for those F250 springs? I had only seen this style in the 2000 Ford service manual pictures ha..
I added another leaf from the G code rear pack to the Front springs yesterday and it added 1 inch. I also added the 3 1/2 tapered rear blocks from the donor F250 .. now it sits pretty good. As for Shocks, I plan on ordering some of the special Bilstein shocks from CaryT. gonna have duals in the front.
Modifed Front spring pictures

sits good

I'm new to the sit, but bring a wealth of spring information with me. What you have is "T" code front spring from a 1999 to 2000 F250. This is a full taper spring with a carry capacity of 1,800 lbs. If you measure from the centerbolt to each eye along the surface of the leaf, you should have measurements of 27-1/2" and 28-1/8". If you want to buy aftermarket springs from your local spring shop, the SRI # is 43-766.

Also, just a word of caution on your liners (shims). Be sure the liners of the shims extend beyond the u-bolt, if not you create a stress riser and could cause the leaf to break at the end of the shim when the u-bolts are torqued or the spring is under load. The other thing to watch is that you don't make the shims to thick. The samething could happen under load. I hope this helps clears up the mystery.

Thanks TSprGuy. I did just find spring codes in my factory workshop manual.. not sure why I didn't look in the general info section before?, I had just looked inthe suspension section before ha.... oh well ..The work shop manual doesn't list the ratings .. where can you find them?.. Do You know the rating for the V Code, W code, and X codes?... I'm thinking, I still may swap in v or x codes any way.. I checked where my shims end. They end almost exactly where the out edge of the U-bolt shank is.. mummn Maybe I should remake some new ones that are longer..I will update my chart with the info from your post and the workshop manula..the order #s would be missing from a few though.. ha
Thanks
Deo

Heres the updated chart I made up..I took any of the common front spring codes and any that listed an Excursion application from the 2000 workshop manual. From what I had gathered the front #'s are the order or part #....seems some of the Suffix #s in the workshop match the stamped # 's and some do not... not sure why? Any input T SprGuy? ..could you find the weight ratings and add em to the chart ?
Thanks,
Deo

Sure, but keep in mind that its the combination of the Model, the year, and the spring code that determines which spring to use. Ford has used the same spring code for different vehicles over the years. Which means the same spring code may not be interchangable.

For a F-Super Duty Series Front Spring

W Code, Cap. 2,400
V Code, Cap: 2,200
U Code, Cap: 2,000
T Code, Cap: 1,800
S Code, Cap: 1,600
H Code, Cap: 2,250
X Code, Cap: 2,600
G Code, I don't have a listing for this codes for a F-Super Duty Series Front.
C Code, Cap: 1,780 2000- 2006 Excursion Code
B Code, Cap: 1,680 2000- 2006 Excursion Code
D Code, Cap: 1,980 2000- 2006 Excursion Code

Thanks for the info.. obviously most of us here are mixing and matching the springs...and not using the factory specific vehicle spring sets.. It looks like I'll be swapping the T codes I used to at least v codes.. with the cummins installed in the excursion thats a lot of extra weight..compared to a pickup.. check out a few of the threads on Spring modifications here..
Thanks
Deo

Is the SRI# and universal code that we could use at local spring shops to get what we want? Seem like that could greatly simplify life to know what to get without depending on a dealership or shipping.
