Front Suspension Knock

I've had my 4x2 Limited for two weeks now and just passed 1000 miles today. The only problem I am experiencing is a pronounced knock coming from the right front wheel every time the steering wheel is turned 1/16 to 1/8 turn to the left of center. The knock does not seem to be speed sensitive but it does not happen when the vehicle is not moving (flamers; I am not in the habit of turning the steering wheel of a vhicle that is not moving, I know how hard that is on the front end). Crawling around underneath did not reveal any loose parts. OK, so, there. Any Ideas. Think its a wheel bearing? Brake calipers? Suspension Bushings?

By the way, the spring seats appear to be neoprene. Did anyone else notice that?

Re: Front Suspension Knock

I've had a 4 x 2 Limited since November and have 5300 miles so far. Since day one, there has been a knock in the front(drivers side) suspension. It occurs at any speed, over expansion joints or even small bumps in the road. Ford dealer checked the sway bar end links and took out front brake pads(added some disc quiet). I too have checked out the front end for any possible causes, same as you brake calipers, bushing etc. so far frustrated. Another dealer verified the noise any did not want to get near attempting to repair it. Ford CAC is usless. I requested an engineer see the vehicle, they recommended to take it to another dealer.

Re: Front Suspension Knock

Hey Guys, i had to post......i had this same annoying knock with my superduty. I have found the source of the knock in the front cab mounts. (the ones underneath the front floorboards). The mounting bolts contact the cab metal and every time you hit a bump the bolt bumps the sheetmetal and makes the knock. I removed the mounting bolts and opened up the holes where the bolts go through and now all is well. When the bolts are removed you can see a divit in the sheetmetal where the contact is made. Hope this helps.
