My '00 Ex. was involved with a head on accident that shoved everything to the passenger side. We had the vehicle fixed instead of totalling it. The frame had to be straightened and all, and I believe that the frame was close to right on. So, I picked up the vehicle and was looking at it the other day and noticed the passenger side tire sticks past the side of the truck more than the driver's side tire. I drove the truck straight in fresh snow and found that the front tires drive 2.5-3 inches off to the passenger's side. The dealership is saying that they only do things to 2 inches accuracy, and so this is acceptable. Are there some kind of alignment pins I can check to see if the axle has slid or anything? And is this acceptable workmanship?

2-3" I'd get a second and maybe third opinion as I wouldn't accept it till it's within Ford factory specs.

The Service Manager said that the Ford spec is 2 inches (supposedly). Since everything on this Ex. is stock '00, is it just the alignment that is out of wack 2-3 inches and can be fixed easily, or not?

a reputable alignment shop should be able to answer that as it could be several different things. but i'm w/ Bill i wouldn't except it until i know what, why, and if it can be fixed. i didn't like mine when it was only slightly off, 2-3" would drive me up the wall.

This is the Ford spec for dog tracking which is a lot in my mind. I would go to a good frame shop or body shop and avoid dealers body shops for this kind of work, especially on trucks.
Dogtracking — F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Excursion
Dogtracking — Maximum (Centerline of front tires compared to centerline of rear tires) 30 mm (1.2 in)

I had the same situation with my Bronco after a collision. The frame shop said the frame was diamonded. It was fixed for about $450 back in 1995. I had no problems after that until I rolled it two years ago
Good luck
. “And to check for diamonding, you should crisscross measure from one corner to the opposite corner and then compare that measurement with the other side. The tolerance for that measurement should be no more than ¼ inch, though I like to see even less.”
