Re: Fuel Filler Opening

Man,

I thought I was smart using my dremel tool and removing the filler neck from the truck. If I used my brain, I could have thought of this. Good Work! It is amazing what people do to solve a problem.

Regards,
Ben

Re: Fuel Filler Opening

Thank you sir.

I am going to check it out next weekend. I was dreading spending the 3 hours or more to unbolt and discoonect everything in the cold.

What moron at Ford came up with that bright idea. Just 30 seconds in a back alley ....

Re: Fuel Filler Opening

POLR BR, prolly the same guy who decided not to make the auto-lock door lock feature available on the X. I got dibs on him after you're done. OK?

Re: Fuel Filler Opening

jbkrab-
you deserve all the credit---it was your post that prompted me to brave the elements to perform YOUR prescribed remedy. It was only my basic laziness that propelled me to the shortcut. Kudos to you sir.

Fuel Filler Opening

I just opened up the fuel filler to accomodate the truck nozzles. As I was about to remove the filler tube (it's freezing here and everthing was brittle) I noticed the filler tube and the restrictor are Plastic. I took a fishing knife, heated the blade with a torch (worked great for my hands too) and smoothly cut out the restrictor, holding it with stork needle nose pliers the whole time. Took the hot knife, smoothed it all over and whammo-5 minutes and done.

Re: Fuel Filler Opening

X-cuses,

Thanks! But I could have saved myself the hassle and the diesel fuel in the eye if I used your idea. Oh well, great minds........

But now we all can fill up at any diesel depot!

Regards,
Ben
