Fuel tank filler neck

Is there an easy way to open up the plastic insert on the top
of the fuel tank neck so that it will accept the larger truck
stop type diesel pumps?

Thanks,

Re: Fuel tank filler neck

Take out the 3 little screws around the filler neck. From underneath, loosen the clamps that hold the filler tube to the rubber hose that goes to tank. Remover filler tube, use a dremmel or hot knife and cut out plastic being careful not to mess up the part of the plastic with the threads. Flush out the cuttings and reinstall. Took me about 30 minutes. Now I can fill anywhere.

Re: Fuel tank filler neck

Are the 2003 Excursions supplied with the small neck filler, or has this changed?

Re: Fuel tank filler neck

My 02 has the larger neck also. I think it was upto 2001 that had the smaller neck but I"m not sure.

That's because the government has rounded them all up and is keeping them at a top secret installation somewhere in New Mexico . . . .
