Fuse Panel Problem

I recently installed a pioneer xm system in my X. While attempting to piggyback the power supply wires to a fuse I knocked the small metal "clip" (that holds the fuse) back into the panel. Now the fuse just falls out of the socket. Any ideas about how to repair this????

Re: Fuse Panel Problem

Which circuit was the fuse seat clip for?

Usually they push in from the rear of the panel,I haven't had my panel down yet but I'll assume it's the same way as most vehicles.

Re: Fuse Panel Problem

The fuse is for the cig lighter. I pulled the panel off and don't see a way to access it from the rear. Thanks.

Re: Fuse Panel Problem

If the fuse seat is out,no cig lighter, the panel should unbolt and swing down as I was going to do the same to access a running lights circuit but did a shortcut instead.

The loose circuit wire for that seat should be up behind the panel.

I wish I could go out the X and drop the panel to evaluate it,but it's dark and cold now. If you don't have it resolved by morning I'll drop mine and check it out.

Re: Fuse Panel Problem

Just a side note, when you are lookig for a "spare circuit" to tie into.
The trailer battery charging circuit is isolated, it is an orange wire that runs from the relay in the CJB to the rear so you can pick it up any place. I used it for my 400 W inverter under the second row seets. In my sons 93 Bronco (same wire and color) we used it for his large amplifier.

It seems Ford does not know how big it should be, I just noticed the following:

2002 electrical manual fuse F2.62 shows 40 amps
2002 *revised electrical manual fuse F2.62 shows 20 amps

20 amp in my early 2002 soon to be a 30amp, I just assumed it might be a 40 like the book said and like all other Ford trucks I have had.

Re: Fuse Panel Problem

Took the whole panel out, unhooked everything and still couldn't get to the clip...HOWEVER, when I went back and rechecked the fuses I miscounted and was trying to put the fuse into an unused slot so there was no clip to begin with. Glad my daughter was inside when I realized the mistake. Thanks for the tips though...
