Gale Banks Kits

I'm new to this site and looks as though you guys know your stuff! My question is, has anyone installed a Gale Banks kit for the X or had one installed? I'm interested in adding a Stinger Plus kit. I spoke with the tech people at Banks and they recommended the Stinger Plus as the Power pack for the X was not that much more HP/Torq for the extra money. Any suggestions on the Banks or other systems, chips, tuners? I have a 2002 X with just over 29K on the clock.

Re: Gale Banks Kits

I've got a banks exhaust and I'm pretty happy with it. I looked at the various packages and eventually decided to just piece my own together. My primary reason for going away from the banks kits were that they required an actual chip which is easily detectable when going in for warranty work. I can 'de-install' my SCMT if need be. If I ever get denied I'll just bite the bullet and pay myself, but it would be nice if basic engine repairs (glow plugs, etc) were warrantied to 100k.

Just my .02

Regards,
Dave

Re: Gale Banks Kits

I am very happy with the Banks Power Pack on my Excursion. The only things in the Power Pack that I am not using are the gauges (I already had Autometer Cobalt gauges) and the air filter (I already had a Tymar). Banks set my chip on the middle setting (factory set) when they sent it out to me and I am now debating about trading up to the Big Hoss program or just getting a new chip from Bill at Diesel Power. And the only reason for that is because my husband just recently got a 4 position chip custom burned from Bill and all I can say is "WOW"!
Have you been to Bank's website? There you can check out exactly what comes in each kit. It really depends on what you want. With my set up, I got improved fuel mileage (when I can keep my foot off the floor board), decreased exhaust temps, better shifting patterns, less turbo lag and surging and that "seat of the pants" feeling.

I also know that I have seen lots of exhausts out there (my husband has been through a couple different ones himself) and Banks is by far the one that hooks up the easiest.
