I just bought a used 2000 Ex. I want to install my garage door opener in the overhead console but my Ex. doesn't have the "lego" things to activate the button. My dealer wants $22 for a kit that has them. Has anyone used anything else to substitute?
I would be dammed if I paid 22 smackers for that crap ,but I often wundered if lego's will work.I will bet a piece of wood and some velcro way help some.Joe M.
Too bad you don't have the the 03 with Homelink. I would use Legos

I don't know about the 03's. In my overhead console there's a bin thats for the garage door opener. It comes empty with velcro pads to stick your opener to the roof. There are several columns on the door and 4-6 "lego" type things that are supposed to go on the correct column to activate the opener when the door is pressed up from the outside. If you were going to throw yours away and not save them for whenever you sell your truck, I'd be glad to work something out (it would have to be under $22 If not, I'm looking for a substitute. I've been told that legos don't work but I'll try it anyway.
OK. I got 4 little black pegs. About 3/8" cubed hollow on one end and a button on the other end. Is that what you want?
$22 for these!!!!!
You've got to be kidding!
You want them? Send me a PM with your address they're yours.
I keep my X in my barn, not my garage. No opener in the barn. Besides, I had these pegs on my '01 S'crew and they did not work with my remote. They are worthless to me.
Whoever gets the X after me will have to worry about them.
Seems to me they are easily replaced - "Mr. Salesman, may I please take this new X for a private test drive?"
I don't use mine up there because it only works (for me) if you are right infront of the garage. And me being the patient man that I am can'nt stand for that.
