Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

Looked at an 02 X today. It's a Limited with 7.3L and 4 X 4. It's got 29.5K miles, clean inside and out, built in KTP. The dealer wants $33,995. Bottom line - Good price or not for West TX??? This is my first used vehicle purchase and haven't bought a new vehicle since 96. Was surprised to learn the warranty doesn't transfer. I think I should get an ESP to cover the unknowns, agree?? The only option I could see on it while looking was the rear captains chairs and TT Mirrors. I really need the pax ability. Anyone ever trade these for a bench? No rear ET Ctr. Anything I should be looking for while looking closely at it? Thanks for all the replys. US Army for 20 years, got all the T-shirts!!

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

Gaurdrail,
That sounds pretty reasonable for out here. You could probably shave a little more off of it if you played hardball. I bought mine last Nov for 31K, an 01 Lmtd 4x4 w/29,500 mi. I had to go to Az. to get it. If you buy it I would be willing to swap you for my bench, I will even arrange for the transportation. If your intrested call me or email skygod73@aol.com
Thanks,

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

I can't believe the warranty would not transfer. I got several items covered after I bought it, the biggest was a tranny replaced at 31K. The dealer in Ca never said a word. 2001 was a bad year for trannys. Oh yeah, my 2nd row bench is tan. I love my PSD, I had a gasser X first. BTW ask to see the warranty transfer issue in writing, either way get the ESP. You'll love the X!

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

I think he's feeding you a line on the warranty transfer . . .(just my .02)

That price seems a bit high to me . .if you figure I bought a brand new one last year for right about 40k even, and they say you take what 25% depreciation hit when you drive it off the lot? That would put you down a hair under 30k I would think . .28-29k seems to me to be a reasonable price, but I don't know the Texas market either.

Have a good one,
Dave

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

The dealer is F.O.S. on the warr. issue or he or she is a jackass .The only other thing I can think of is that the truck was wrecked or a lemon return in which case ford will null the warranty.Call Ford's warr. program a call, give the v.i.n. of that truck, and inquire about buying the esp direct from them.I would also find the truck with the equip. you want from the start, and not start swapping things out when you could have gotten it that way from the start .What you want is out there just keep looking.Place a post in the wanted section someones lease may be comming up,also I paid 40,000 brand new for mine with the lower int. rate it may pay to buy new .Joe M.

Seems a bit high to me...we bought ours NEW ('00) for that price, along with 0.9% Financing for 3 years!

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

In Ca. my Dad bought his 00 Limited 4x4 PSD for 41.5K w/1.9% for 5yr in 2000. Now the INVOICE price on a 03 Limited is 45K. I don't know what the current rebates are , probably 3K. MSRP on a new unit out here equiped with the rear Capt's chairs is 50K. If he can get them down a little it's worth it. Maybe the prices are higher in Ca. As far as the depreciation, if someone paid 47K for that unit and Gaurdrail buys it for say 32K that's a good savings for 1 year. I guess it all depends on how much they want to deal on it. Location and demand will play a big part.

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

The 25% depreciation is based on MSRP. He is close to paying 25% less than the original MSRP.

Tailgate, if you paid 34K for a new Limited 4x2 PSD in 00 that's a great deal! This one is a 4x4 with rear Capt's chairs, probably climate control, 6 disc in dash, and stereo controls on the steering wheel. Many of those are expensive adds that were not available in 00. The Invoice and MSRP went up each year for the X. Just my .02

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

I think the price is a little high. I would expect to pay $30k to $32k.

Re: Good Price on 02 Limited Excursion???

Just my .02 worth.I paid $38,500 with 0 miles in December for an '02 with bench rear and standard mirrors.Ltd Ultimate 7.3 AND they threw in a remote start. That counts in the $3,000 rebate.
You should really call Ford Customer Service 'bout the warranty.Sounds like he's handing you a load of *****!
NADA prices show that truck with those miles and options averaging retail for 30,995.Trade in value being $27k and change.I can't remember the last time I tried to trade in a car where the dealer was willing to give me even CLOSE to NADA trade in value. They usually go by Galves prices when buying a trade in,off lease or auction vehicle and those are wayyyyy lower than NADA or Kellys.
Just print off a Kellys report and NADA report and bring them in to this clown. He's making at the very least $7k at that price!!FYI they only make $1-$3k on a new car.Even at what I paid they still made about $1,200 not including the rollback they get.
