grill insert question

Is there some kind of trick to getting the insert out of my grill? Got the grill off the X, but am having trouble getting the stock insert in to put in a new one.

Help?

OK, I'll reply!!

So, I think that your trying to get the center plastic out of the chromed outer, correct???

There are ~16 or so clips that you will have to pry open.
Use a medium sized - screwdriver and just slightly twist it open.
Start on one side and work your way around until the chromed part is off.

At least, I think that how I did it 3.75 years ago!!!!!

I did finally get it. I was just trying to hard because of not wanting to break the original insert. Don't ask me why I cared about the original insert!?!?!? Just a girl thing I guess.

It's nice to know I can find help anytime.

I actually got my insert down from the rafters to look at it!!!
