Guage mounts in 03?? - Diesel Forum

I wanted to mount my guages on the pillar, but the 03 has a grab handle there. What are some other locations used? I don't want to cut any holes if I don't have to.

Look here dieselpage for a few options and prices. I like the 2 guages in the dash myself.

The X-Monitor will fit with no modifications.

To start, temporarily remove the grab handle. (The pillar trim has to come off as they screwed the trim to the grab handle to make assembly easier.) Replace the pillar trim.

Hold the X-Monitor in place on the pillar. Do not drill any holes to atttach the X-Monitor. Reinstall the grab handle over the X-Monitor housing. The bottom of the grab handle will hold the X-Monitor in place just fine.

I didn't replace the little screws holding the grab handle to the pillar trim. The big bolts are what holds the grab handle on, not the little screws.

I used 3 dual gauges under the dash so I had all the missing gauges.

Remove the grab handle to put the gauge pillar mount in or consider a dash mount and leave the pillar as is.

Looks like we're leaning towards the 2 gauge pod that goes in front of the cluster that's sold by Diesel Injection Service,I was down the Dallas location and Bryant gave me all the info I needed [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

My understanding was that the two gauge pod for the X never came about, I never did understand why the X dash might be different.

If you put the 2 gauge in I would like to see pictures.
Seems like I saw some a while back that someone had used the 2 gauge dash pod and added two more gauges below. But all were in SDs.

I may be all wet but I thought the pod would not fit the X, or is there one for the X now?

That is one clean "factory looking" install ! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Looks like it was meant to be there! Was on the phone with DIS last week ordering filters and I asked about the instrument mounts. Was told that he (sorry can not remember who I talked to) was working on getting some new pics up on the install.

Haven't checked to see if the surrounding bezel's differ from the pickup to the X.

I may have to call Bryant at the Dallas DIS to get the particulars.

It only took a few minutes to file the sides of the mount to "fit the curve" of the dash and around the lighter socket since it is almost flat under there. I have to do a little more along the front, you can hardly see it in the pictures but it is tight in the center an just a little room at the ends. I will do that when I repaint it since the paint was a little to red. I sent a painted chip back to PaintScratch.com and they just sent me an email saying they may have mixed it wrong and were sending another can. They have been great to work with, All email but they respond next day lattest.

It fit way to cool to point out the difference in colors [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img], but that was one thing I did notice. Do you have any pics from the side ? Like looking in from the passenger seat? Was wondering how much of the wiring "shows"

I will try to add some picts tonight I know it does not show from the drivers seat at all. I used that black split tube and painted it the same, but the paint did not stay on too good even with the "flex stuff" added in. Never looked from the Pass side will take camera out and shoot some while it warms up a bit before I go home. I can tell you the wires come right out of the center and tie to the right side of the OBD port then up under the dash.

I am still "wiring" to add the remote start and allarm unit.
THe remote start wiring is not bad but the allarm stuff is a PITA.
I will get it done this weedend if not prior, including the SPA temp driven "turbo saver".
