I am wanting to upgrade my speakers and possibly adding an amplifier to my '01 Ex limited. Are all 6 speakers 6x8's? What did you replace your with? Anyone add an amp to their sound systems? What did you use as an amp? I am thinking that a six channel amp would be the way to go since there are 6 speakers... that way each speaker would get it's own dedicated channel... but 6 channel amps are few and far between!
I changed the 4 doors to pioneer 3 ways 5x7 is what they are but I believe a 6x8 may fit as well. I added a 5 channel amp under the rear seat. 2 10" sub are in a box in the cargo area behind the 3rd seat.

were all six speakers the 6x8 size? I am looking at Kenwood 3 ways for all six positions... IF they will fit!

Yes, 5x7 or 6x8 will be a direct drop-in. Also make sure you check the mounting depth on any speaker you get, as it may be an issue.
I replaced the front and back speakers with 6.5 components in the front and 6.5 2 ways in the rear doors. MDF panels have to be made to use the 6.5's. I left the 3rd row speakers stock ... they are just fill anyway ... they also get their power from the back door channel of the amp, so you really don't need a 6 channel.
JL stealth box for the sub and Alpine 5-channel amp (mounted under rear seat - large section) to power everything. It is very simple, but the sound is outstanding.
I will have to measure them,I think they were 6x8.The pioneer were direct replacements, except for the wiring. If you have a Super Wally-World near-by check for the Pioneer's.They sound great and are the cheapest there. If I am not mistaken they were around $30 a pair.I know they were much cheaper than I paid online when I saw them a month after the swap. Always a day late and a dollar short.
I'm looking at upgrading the system in my 04' as well. I'm looking at the folowing system:
Eclipse AVN5495 Navigation/DVD - when is comes out this month
Eclipse Sirius Radio Tuner
JL Audio XR570-CXi speakers - All 6
JL Audio Stealth Box
JL Audio 450/4 Amp - 75w x 2 & 300w x 1
JL Audio 300/4 Amp - 75w x 4
Those who have used the JL Audio Stealth Box what do you think about it? I've never had a sub up front with me so I've wondered how it sounds, is there any diffrence in sound from having a sub in the back?

I had the same concerns ... I love it. Your head unit should have a sub out ... this will allow you to control the volume of the sub if you feel it is over powering. If your head unit does not have a separate sub out, you can get a RCA volume controller that will work off your RCA sub out on your amp. You can mount this up front and have the same control.
Sounds like you are going all out ... I would recommend using a 6.5 speaker up front ... round speakers always sound better compared to a 5x7 or 6x8.
Eclipse 8053 head unit-8V pre-outs
Eclipse 50x4 amp for front and 2nd row speakers
Xtant 300 watt @ 2 ohm sub amp
12" Image Dynamics IDv.3 sub in sealed box (1ft^3)
Infinity 5x7 in front and 2nd row
3rd row not used
Sounds DAMN good too
