My truck has some aftermarket headlights that are not in the best of shape. And they are VERY dim. First question - anyone have any ideas on what could cause them to be so dim?
Second question - What other year Excursions stock lights would be a bolt in replacement for my '02? What are some other recommended brands for replacement? New stock are expensive so I guess I'm looking at aftermarket unless someone has some used stock ones they'd like to get rid of.

Not sure why they would be so dim.... You can get any SD headlight to fit from 199-2004, but if you want the clear lense, the 2002-2004 are it. I am thinking of getting a set of APC projection lights for it in the future.

Are you sure they are aftermarket? If so which ones are they? If the bulbs are dim they could be damaged or just cheapoes. Maybe check the voltage at the plug on the bulb or try replacing the bulbs. If the lense portion is clear and the reflector is still shiney then the bulb may be the culprit.
I have the APC lights and I split the wiring so each light has its own power and ground wire. I also have the suvlights.com wiring harness powering them. My lows and the projector fogs are on all the time. I have a relay installed that keeps them on when the highs are on too. That is 6 filaments lighting the road when all are on at once. I have Sylvania Silverstars for lows and clear 100W highs. This setup works well and gives plenty of light.

Sounds great, I am sure that lights up the road great. Just be careful "I think I remember hearing" 6 forward facing light sources is illegal in Texas.
