Heater plugin ?

Friend just picked up an 05' X yesterday and they asked where the heater plugin was. I replied that Ford likes to hide them real well up in the bumper, I crawled under to find it for them and darned if I couldn't find it. Mine on my 250 was on the front right did they place it somewhere else on the 6.0 l's ? TYA

Re: Heater plugin ?

While all 05 PSDs have the heater element, they only come with a heater cord in certain states or if you special order the cord. Location has been behind the right tow hook. Looking up from ground with flash light they are not to hard to find.

How can I tell if I have an engine block heater?

From SmokeyWren:

All '99 thru 2003 PSDs came with the block heater as part of the PSD package. The block heater was optional on gassers. And for 2005 models, it's standard with the PSD engine in a few icebox states, and optional in the other states.

Hope this helps,

-Mike

Re: Heater plugin ?

Yeap Ford made it convenient sorta for the 6.0 guys as you had to order the engine block heater vs the 7.3L's came with em standard, just doesn't sound right

Re: Heater plugin ?

Hey thanks for the replies, this vehicle was brought up from Houston for delivery here, they just told me they had every option possible except for some baggage carrier? they probably don't have one I guess.

Every option they might have meant all the sugar coating but not the essentials all diesels should have.

If you cannot locate the block heater/cord the part number is #5C32-6B018-AA should have a price of about $40-50.

Re: Heater plugin ?

Heh, sugar you r right, big family (6) needs a big hauler especially when they hook up their TT and all the bikes etc.. I guess it was hard to get a 4x2 without all the Eddie Bauer gizmos, that steering wheel has more buttons than my PDA.

Re: Heater plugin ?

Caught up with this thread late I guess, but I have a 2001 7.3l, auto, CC, XLT Dually and I'm being transfered from EAFB, Mojave to Wichita, KS in mid August so I'll need a functioning block heater for those cold winter nights . I did the look for the AC cord under the bumper both left and right sides thing and found no cord. So reading the thread here it was stated that the 7.3 came with the block heater standard, the cable was the option. Can someone expand on this and give me some insite as to where to look for the block heater element. I'll order the cable if the heater is installed.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Heater plugin ?

On the 2001 model year, the cable is standard. Look hard behind where the front licence plate would be for the cable tie wrapped. It is up there somewhere.

Good luck.
