Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar Install Question

I just installed a Hellwig rear anti-sway bar on my X and have a question. Before I took off the shock mount U-bolts I marked the drivers side with a grease pencil to help relocate the bracket when I needed to reinstall the shock mounts. When I removed the driver’s side I saw that there was an alignment pin on the axle and a centering hole in the bracket so I didn’t mark the passenger side bracket with the funny extra bracket on it. Well when I took off the passenger side bracket the centering hole part of the bracket was no longer welded to the bracket. When I reinstalled the shock mount I had to mount it so it looked as close and measured as close to the driver’s side as possible. My question is, is this normal or should I replace the faulty bracket? Everything is bolted up tight and looks proper but the bracket could be off just a little bit.

Thanks

Steve

Re: Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar Install Question

Long as the U bolts and bracket/s are cranked to the torque numbers and the shock mounts remain the same after the sway bar install I wouldn't bother with it personally.

Re-check the shock mount positions after 20-30 miles or so to make sure they didn't fall off kilter,my drivers side did move from the stock position about 1-2 inches after a day, went ahead and re positioned em and re-cranked a little bit more and they have not budged in 5 months.

Re: Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar Install Question

If it was me I'd probably price out a new shock bracket at the dealer. (the pin is still on the axle correct?) If it was less than say $30, I'd probably replace it some weekend . .but then again I'm anal about stuff like that and have quite a bit of free time when my kids aren't in thier sports seasons. As Bill said, it's probably not anything that you need to worry about! (just make sure it's tight!)

Regards,
Dave
