I've been using a veggie oil blend in my truck for over a yr now and have convinced the wifey to start driving my F250 to work and back to save on fuel over her Maxima. I'm trying to convince her that the PSD excursion is the way to go for room , saftey of her and our two kids, and ease of repair,...I have tons of PSD parts and sell TS performance chips. She wants a VW Passat. Her argument is the size. Just how long is an Excursion versus my F250 CC Short bed?
Thanks guys. Looking forward to joining the X ranks soon.
A Excursion is slightly shorter than a regular cab 8 foot bed PU.

Thanks guys. I'm going to find one in a parking lot and park beside it and take some pics and measurements....to me it'd be just downright silly to go with anything else...considering we're a ford family. I think she's coming around.

I love my X too. I would not give it up for anything.
Mine is a daily driver, driver to our three kids soccer games all over the state, drag racer, sled puller, boat tower and can make it through the snow and ice.
It's easy for us to work on and it gets good fuel mileage for its size. Two 7.3s in the family just makes things easier (although Alan doesn't like sharing the "truck mod fund" with me).
The length does not bother me in the slightest. I feel safer driving down I-25 in it versus the little cars I dwarf. My kids can spread out and stay away from each other during trips (they sometimes need that even on short trips ).
They will be prying this thing out of my cold, dead hands.

My wife loves her X although she misses having a truck bed. It was her decision to get the X as a replacement for the 7.3L NA F350 CC dually she'd been driving the previous 10 years. She also likes the added lift and firmer ride provided by the W/B code springs - God bless her!

I can't get mine away from the wife....I have to get advanced permission to use it. I'm stuck with my focus.

Ditto. My wife had "her" truck which was a Ford Explorer and the Ex was "mine". But I have a little Mitsubishi Galant to drive to work. Well after a year, the Explorer just sits and costs us insurance money. She drives "our" Excursion all the time now if I don't need it for something. We're selling the Explorer this month.
My Excursion is just slightly shorter than my Superduty pickup in the signature. My pickup is 142" wheelbase and the Excursion is 138" wheelbase. I believe that your F-250 is 156" wheelbase, it being CC and shortbed.
I love my Excursion and it would be hard for me to come up with a replacement at this time. I thought I would have trouble driving mine and parking it. The length and the size doesn't bother me in the least. I don't even notice the size until I try to go throught the garage door. My garage doors are 101" wide and the mirrors just will go through. Still, doesn't bother me in the least.
I certainly hope that you are able to convince your wife of the benefits of ownership, if that is what you want. I know I sure like mine! Good luck. Craig.

I've noticed the turning radius to be the worse in the F250. Believe it or not the F350 crew cab long bed dually can turn sharper than the F250 x-cab short bed. Some people say it's because I'm missing the shock that goes on the front axle on the F250, the other two have one factory. As far as length always thought the X's were very close in length to a x-cab short bed Super Duty. My first impression with the X was how it was so much more refined than the XLT F250 and it seemed easier to drive and seemed smaller when behind the wheel.
My wife was driving a 95 5.8 Bronco with dual pipes when I got her the X. She was happy driving the Bronco but after spending 3 months on Excursion forums realized the benifit of a suv that has Dana and Sterling axles, 44 gallon fuel tank, locking hubs, and can get up to 20 mpp. She asked me prior to purchase if it was needed, "heck ya it's needed"!!!
If there was any vehicle I could go back and buy again new realisticly it would have to be a 2000 7.3 4x4 Excursion. The one we got was a mint one owner non smoked in which had the 100K mile warranty bumper to bumper. At 170K miles the tranny has only had fluid removed and added and the motor just oil. Two CPS's at 114K and 124K miles, other than that nothing to the motor.
Bought in 03 with 104K miles currently has 170K miles and still runs and drive like the day we bought it. What amazes me it how it's held it's value. Bought for $20,400 out the door retail value now still in the mid to high teens. Original MSRP high $40's.

The EX is shorter than my F250 CC SB. It also turns a tighter radius than my truck. If you get one I would suggest the back up sensors as an option to look for. They help a lot. Just back in every time you park. My wife will not give up that EX for anything.
My wife loves her Ex. Her only complaint is she never gets to drive it!
It will be one cold day in he!! before you pry it out of my hands.
Reasons:
- bigger than other cars (they get out of the your way).
- you can see better out of it
- you like it better
- Better mileage
- you like to work on it
- safer
- faster
- more room
- good veggi vehicle
- you cannot find a new one, so you have to buy a used one and that will save money. Used prices are not to bad. $15,000-$25,000
Make sure she knows that you are buying it for her. I recommend not buying it on fathers day.

My wife loves the '05 we just bought. She had two Expeditions ('97 and'03) in the past and always thought the X to be too big. After a week of driving it she said we should have bought one sooner. She now wants a license plate for it that reads "Not His"
