Add my wife to the list of Ex lovers. We were able to "upgrade" from an Expedition a couple of years ago and have been happy ever since. Many have listed the reasons... DITTO to all of them. Plus I feel better knowing that her and the kids (3) are in something safe and dependable.
I've had to pry people out of many of the smaller SUV's when they wreck. Never out of an Ex, they have all been up and around with barely a scratch. Physics is your best friend, or worst enemy in an accident, you decide.
Good Luck.

My wife's been driving my Ex while her Beemer gets a new top. She keeps *****ing about having to park it and not being able to go to the drive thru. Funny, she always looks at me like I'm nuts when I drive thru at Wendy's while pulling the race car.
We'll both be happy when she gets her car back.

It was tough to sell my wife on a Big SUV, I was looking at Suburban's. Ended up with a used 97 Expedition. She complained for awhile, then she began to apprieciate it. Mileage was horrible, so I started talking Excursion diesel because it could also pull the trailers.
Well, now there is NO GOING BACK! She has a fit when I even suggest driving our Impala, for those short 1 miles trips to the grocery store. She really likes her Excursion. I probably end up buying one with a gas engine just for the short trips.
I'm actually looking at 2wd's with a 5.4 to make a convertible out of it for weekend cruising. I think it'd be fun & unusual with 6 or 8 captain's chairs.

My wife and I went to Ford back in '02 to check out f250's and X's looking for a replacement for my treasured '79 Bronco. First we test drove the f250 Lariat. I tired to make a U turn in the parking lot and could barely manage a 45 degree turn. We looked at each other and started to laugh hysterically. What a difference compared to the Bronco. Next we test drove it and my wife wasn't impressed with the seating, especially in the rear.
We then tried the X. Wow, we were sold! The steering radius was much better than the f250 though weak compared to the Bronco. Next was the test drive. Very comfortable, impressive, NICE.
SHE decided on the X not me. To this day when we're driving down the road in the X my wife still says how much she like the choice, me too!!
PS - My friend's wife was blown away when she measured her f250 crew cab (standard 6.75' bed) vs. our X and found her truck was longer by a few inches. The X is the same length as the f250 Regular Cab with an 8' bed, give or take 1/2". People who don't own an X are genuinely surprised when told this.
