Help with my new purchase

Well I think I might take the plunge and trade in the 250 on an 03 Mineral Gray Limited X, 4x2, 6.0L PSD, fully loaded with DVD, 2nd row captains chairs, 3.73s, and tow mirrors. Price after Ford $2,000 rebate is $42K. What do you guys think? Also, I have been reading about sway bars and other things. Is there anything I will need to do to it after I get it? BTW, I won't be towing anything for a couple years.

Re: Help with my new purchase

$42K with the $2,000 rebate is a good price a little better than what a X-Plan pin would have gotten you. If you are not towing and you do not expect the X to handle like the Mustang, just drive it for a while and enjoy. I have over 10K on mine and it handles very well, however, it does not drive like my T-Bird.

Re: Help with my new purchase

Mike,
I haven't kept up with pricing on Excursions with the 6.0 but 42k sounds okay but I'd work em down some more or contact Cochise in the Ordering slot as he's the man for deals in Texas

After you get the Excursion home I'd do the sway bar(if it doesn't have it) and absoloutely upgrade the shocks as the two will wake up the handling.

Performance upgrades are according to personal taste as the wife and I are only after power, mileage and engine/drivetrain longevity & overall driving comfort.

We're right over here in NE Richardson just before Murphy and would be no prob to hook up for you to sample our Excursion to check out all that's been done before you go out emptying your wallet

Re: Help with my new purchase

Just bought a 03 X exactly the same way you described yours - only other options that you didn't list that I am sure you are getting is the Trailer mirrors and the 3.73 rear. I paid $41,250 but also got the $750 military rebate as well and I feel like I got a pretty good deal. We just took our first trip and my highway time was 19MPG and the thing only had 300 miles on it when we started the trip. I saw 700 miles out of the second tank I put in and that was with a weekend of city driving. Love this thing - wife loves the thing - we are keeping this puppy for a while -- Of course I just heard Nissan is going to make a SUV out of their full size truck the Titan and it is going to be the same size as an X -- so who knows in a couple of years????
